Bahamas is a young and lively country. It has just celebrated 32 years of independence. Most of the local people on this island are of Afro-American origin (Negroes). They are generally fishermen by profession. Though they are economically poor they engage themselves in various festivals and events. Jukanoo is a famous festival of Bahamas islands. The celebrations begin in the dark hours on December 26th. From 2 am it goes until sunrise. On the following week, it happens again with another parade, finishing with the first daylight of New Year.

People of the Bahamas islands keep themselves busy all through the year with various Bahamas celebrations and events. Annual One Bahamas Music and Heritage Festival is a very popular Bahamas celebration. This festival celebrates national pride and patriotism. Lots of people, especially youths, take part in this three-day celebration.

Bahamas Islands are also famous for its pristine blue water and variety of fishes. Hence, the Great Bahamas Sea food and Heritage Festival is a popular festival on these islands. Besides exotic sea food dishes, this festival also reflects the rich heritage and cultural life of Bahamas.

Boxing Day Jukanoo parade is one of the famous Bahamas celebrations. It is a spectacukar event of sound and spectacle.

On the Bahamas islands, people also participate in swimming competitions. Tourists may go for snorkeling, i.e., shallow water swimming in the sea.

In Bahamas, all the festivals are like carnivals and people enjoy them with light, music, and booze. These Bahamas celebrations bring happiness to the local people as well as to those who visit the islands. Stay with Celebrationsonnet to know more about festivals.
