The Great Canadian Beer festival is held every year at Vancouver Island in Canada. This is purely festival of bears and alcohols. This festival of Beer that has become so well known carries a historical background. It was 10,000 years ago in Mesopotamia, stored grains in house or in the go down used to get wet. The moment the stored grains got wet, it stars germinating. The moment it dried up, the grains became malt. As soon as the rain starts pouring in the rice field, then the grain becomes soaked
Some people believe that during 18th century Ninkasi, the Goddesses of Brewing said that through her thought process song was sung. The song indicated that how she made Beer by mixing Sumerian bread with aroma and finally which was fermented in a big container. The taste of the bear was different for two reasons. Firstly the taste was like oil, which came out of Ninkasi’s ground (later on it came to be known as Iraq).
During the middle of 19th century there were some immigrants to North America. They all migrated to North America with necessary brewing skills. In the year 1850, William Stein Berger established the Victoria Brewery located on the Eastern part of Swan Lake in Saanich. The operation of this Brewery continued till 1981.
So history is repeated every year in Vancouver Islands. The Great Canadian Beer Celebrations every year adds some new milestones in its long history. Apart from the Great Canadian Beer Celebrations, there are other popular beer celebrations in Canada. These are:
