South Dakota is situated in North
Central United States. The name of
the state has been derived after Lakota
and Dakota (Sioux) American Indian
tribes. The state had been admitted
to the Union on November 2, 1889.
The main river is Missouri. Mount
Rushmore is the popular location of
the state, which is used as the unofficial
symbol of South Dakota. The capital
city is Pierre and the largest city
is Sioux Falls, with an approximate
population of 1, 45,000.

are ever present in Garretson.
