A central European country, Czech. emerged as a democratic country in 1993. This has helped the citizens to recover from the trauma of terrorizing phobia, which the entire nation suffered during the nine decades of previous oppressive rule.
Czech is a country of various festivals. Every year various festivals are celebrated which adds pride and prestige to our rich cultural heritage and glory. Since the year 2006, Czechoslovakia has been flooded with a festival spree. Some of the popular festivals celebrated in Czech are as follows:
Karlovy Vary International Film Festival: The festival usually takes place each year during Jun-July each year. This festival has been treated as one of the most important film festivals in modern Europe. It is classed as “Category A “festival. The festival is comparable to the standard of film festivals as Cannes, Berlin, Venice and Tokyo.
Melnik Wine Harvest festival: This festival usually occurs during September and October months. It was since 1991 to 2006, 79 orchestras, 110 conductors, 131 singers, 61 pianists, 35 violin players, 25 cellists, 18 choirs, 6 chamber ensembles and 26 other instrumentalists rendered performances at this festival. At least 2, 70,000 people have attended the musical soiree here.
Znojmo Wine Harvest Festival: The festival takes place in the month of September each year. The festival is being celebrated since 1966. Every year at least 10,000 visitors from across the country throng at the festival premises. The programs begin with colorful costumes on Friday and ends on Saturday with fire works. Visitors get the privilege to witness night time tournament. Apart from these extravaganzas there were medieval music, dances and theatrical performances. Visit to a historical market, along with a booze of wine and also the semi-fermented young wine named Burak are the added attractions of the festival.
International Music Festival: Moravia Autumn: This popular Czech music extravaganza is dedicated to the memory of three reputed Western musical giants namely, Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart, Robert Schuman and Dmitry Sostakovich. Ranked as one of the finest music celebrations in Europe, it usually takes place in September or October each year, attracting participants and spectators across the continent.
