Dive Fest is one of the most interesting events that take place annually in the Dominican Republic. It is hosted by the Dominica Water sports Association. The main purpose of this annual event is to make the people aware about the under water ambiance and the underwater world. The focal point of this festival is the concept of scuba diving. The festival is divided into several categories such as the Discover Scuba, Discover Scuba Diving and Discover Snorkelling programmes. The most exciting part of this festival is that, right from children to the mid-aged people, every one actively participates in this water sport. The main aim of the Dominica Water Sports Association is to educate the people about the under water environment and to reap this, the association arranges slide shows for school students. During the days of the festival, school students and students from other institutions come to achieve sufficient knowledge on marine lives.
The Dive Fest is the most exciting festival celebrated in the Dominican Republic and irrespective of ages people participate in this event whole heartedly. Generally the Scuba diving forms an integral constituent of this festival. However, normal shallow water diving is also arranged for new comers and for them who are not so much friendly with water. In the course of the event, a Treasure Hunt Competition is arranged every year. This particular event is regarded as the most exiting event in the whole festival. The participants those who take part in the Treasure Hunt competition are expected to be good swimmers. The participants are supposed to go to the bed of the water body and bring colored stone. Participant with the maximum number of stones eventually turns out to be the winner and exciting prizes are delivered to the winners. The festival generally takes place on the Castaways Beach or on the Scotts Head Beach. The Dominica Water Sports Association also provides slide shows before the Dive Fest begins, so that the participants become aware of the event.
