There are many smaller celebrations that lead up to the biggest feast of all on Easter day. Easter Sunday is, indeed, the final day of resurrection and the big feast. There are joyous celebrations across the four corners of the world. It is said that Jesus has risen from the dead after His crucifixion. In fact, Easter is celebrated three days later after Jesus was crucified. In Christendom, it is also believed that after rising from his deathbed, Jesus also joined his disciples for a meal and told them to carry on his works in His absence.
The most devout Christians as well as others are aware of the Lent and the Holy Week that lead up to Easter Sunday. There is no particular date fixed for Easter Sunday celebrations. It keeps on changing. Generally, the first Sunday after the first ecclesiastical full moon is considered as Easter Sunday. Basically, every year the ecclesiastical full moon occurs on or after 21st March. This particular day is also celebrated as the day of ecclesiastical vernal equinox (springtime).
Western Christians always celebrate Easter on a Sunday that arrives in between 22nd March to 25th April (the two dates are included in the calculation). However, the Eastern Christians celebrate Easter Sunday that falls in between 4th April to 8th May. Moreover, it is between 1900 and 1970 based on the Gregorian date. For Easter celebration in the year 2008, Easter Sunday will fall on 23rd March for Western Christians and on 27th April for Eastern Christians (source: wikipedia).
Easter Sunday is significant as it marks the Resurrection of Lord Jesus. On this day, most of the Americans visit the church in the morning in order to attend the Sunday Mass or Sunday church services. Then in the afternoon they Easter party and enjoy with special Easter recipes,Easter Decorations and Easter bunny. The entire Easter Sunday is spent playing Easter games and hunting for Easter eggs.
