Ecuador or the Republic of Ecuador is one of the most important countries in South America. The country is bordered by Colombia on the north, Peru has bordered it from the east and the Pacific Ocean is on the south. The major religion of the natives of the Ecuador is Roman Catholicism. However, believers of Islam and even Protestants are also found in this South American country. Festivals play an important role in this country, as both religious and pagan festivals are celebrated here with same zeal and passion.

The El Carnival a religious festival observed with all sorts of grandeur events that usually take place in the Carnivals. The participants in the El Carnival dress up themselves with carnal costumes and huge processions traverse through the streets. Music becomes the most important merry making medium and different bands and musical instruments are played in this carnival.

Fiesta de la Mama Negra festival is a pagan festival and has nothing to do with religion. The festival is celebrated on 23rd and 24th of September every year. This festival is marked with street processions with colorful dance items, costumes, music and fireworks. The history of the festival dates back to the Spanish conquest.

The Inti Raymi Festival is another religious festival and its relevance is attached with the Sun god. The natives of Ecuador meet in a common place and show their heartfelt devotion to him. The festival is held during the winter solstice, which geographically means when the sun is away from the earth.

Some other festivals or very rightly they can be referred as events, are the Bullfights and soccer games. Among the bull fights the pseudo bullfights are more acclaimed in Ecuador. The most famous bullfight that takes place in Ecuador is the Quito bullfight.

Thus celebrations and festivals play an important role in Ecuador and these variants of festivals attract thousands of people round the globe.
