Ramadan is a Muslim festival and it is celebrated world wide. Ramadan means the month of fasting. It is also known as Eid. It is an Islamic festival and people celebrate it throughout one month. It is also known as Ramzan in Indian subcontinent.Ramadan was first celebrated by Prophet Muhammad after his victory in the battle of Badr . It is calculated by the lunar Islamic calendar.
Muslims take a fast during the whole month. They only eat before the Sunrise and after the Sunset. On the day of celebration they awake early in the morning and do a prayer and after that they go to the Mosque. There they pray to their God along with the Sermon (Khutba).Then they recite Takbir.In the evening, they wait for the full Moon and then see it as it is the ritual. Muslims buy new dresses for their family on the occasion of Ramadan as they celebrate it as a pious ritual. On the day of Eid-ul-Fitr they eat Semayya (Fried vermicelli), Anjira (thin bread) and Halva. On the celebration day, they meet their relatives and friends and share happiness and all kinds of emotions.
