The Glastonbury Festival is celebrated in in the South West England between two small villages of Pilton and Pylle. This location falls in the South West part of England and is six miles away from the town of Glastonbury. The exact of the Venue of the festival is the Worthy Farm placed in the midst of the valley from which the Whitelake River flows. This heavenly place is the venue of the Glastonbury Festival. The Glastonbury Festival is of Contemporary Arts. The festival is renowned every where for its contemporary music and dances. Comedy, theatre, cabaret, circus and many more arts are exhibited.
The celebration is organized by the farmers of the Pilton and the Pylle villages. In this process the main initiative is taken by Michael Eavis who is a farmer of one of the villages. The festival was conducted by Michael and his wife Jean till 1999, when Michael died. After his death his daughter Emily Eavis has taken up the initiative. Michael's company the Glastonbury Festivals Ltd is the main player in arranging and sponsoring for the festival. It is important to note that since the year 2002, the Mean Fiddler Music Group have been given the responsibility to maintain the security of the festival and the also to maintain the logistics.
The Glastonbury festival is the world's largest and the most popular performing art festival in the world. The festival is held every year over an area of 900 acres and every year atleast 350-400 participants participate in this celebrations. The festival has got tremendous impact from the Hippy culture.
