The festival of Buhe is one of the oldest festivals, consisting of age-old traditional customs that is held in the month of August in ethiopia. The festival is usually is celebrated at the time of monsoon. Young rough and rustic boys participate more actively than adults and girls. This is being referred as Debre Tabor by the clergy.The festival named Buhe means 'bread.' The day just before the festival breads are baked at every house. The next day young energetic and rustic boys visit every house asking for the bread. They keep on screaming until and unless breads are handed over to them.
The exciting and the most enjoyable part of the festival takes place in the evening of the festival when dry twigs are burnt and women, children and men dance round the fire singing songs. This is a festival of merry makings to the ethiopians; this is an ideal occasion for them to get relief fro their tough and hardy lifestyle.
