French people are very enthusiastic and colorful lot of people. There are many festivals in France that are celebrated with much pomp and fanfare. Since most of the French people are Christians, Christian festivals enjoy a huge popularity in France. New Year’s Day, Easter, Ascension Day, Pentecost, Assumption of Mary, All Saints Day, Armistice Day and Christmas are some of the most popular festivals of France. During Christmas, the auspicious occasion to mark the birthday of Lord Jesus, people go to the church, exchange gifts with families and the whole environment brightens up with lights. On the other hand, everyone’s darling the Santa Claus distributes gifts and toys amongst the children. Moreover, in many homes cakes are made and relished with pleasure. In many places parades and functions are also organized and parties are organized all throughout the country.. Just after Christmas comes the New Year heralding a new beginning, a new life. Just like the other countries, in France, on New Year the night sky of France literally lights up with a spectacular display of fireworks. Also called the Sunday of the Resurrection or the Resurrection Day, on Easter feasts are organized throughout France to mark the resurrection of Jesus.
