Oktoberfest is a festival celebrated for two days in Germany. It is held every year in the month of September and October. A popular festival celebrated in Germany it is in the form of a fair, regarded as the world's largest fair. The entire festival is celebrated for a period of seventeen days and it starts at the end of September and goes on till the third week of October. Munich and Bavaria are the two most important venues for this celebration. The exact location of the festival is known as Theresienwiese, also known as "d" Wiesn.

Oktoberfest, the renowned German celebration took place for the first time on 12th October, 1810. The festival initially was started to commemorate the marriage ceremony of Prince Ludwig and Princess Therese. Since then the festival is organized with a lot of fervor and enthusiasm each year.The festival maintains few traditional elements, like, gun salutes, and the Mayor of Munich inaugurates the festival. As days are passing by the scale of the festival is extending to a large extent. The festival comprises of excellent dishes and large scale of alcohol. The Oktoberfest beer is prepared especially to give more colors and meanings to the festival. The food items that are served are sausages, chicken and cheese noodles. The food is arranged for both the dignitaries and for the common people.

The festival is celebrated every year in an extravagant manner, dignitaries such as the Mayor, and other leading persona are invited. The vibrant nature of the festival has made it famous round the globe.
