Sweetshops are always buzzing with people. Shop owners start the business afresh from the day of Diwali. Even the toy and other shops are rearranged. There is a huge market for candles and crackers that are sold briskly.

Diwali is known for worship of Goddess Laxmi. Shopkeepers perform ‘pooja’ both at home and in their shops. Decorating with oil or ghee lamps is the traditional ritual of every household. Besides, banners and other electric lights are also used extensively. Hence, this festival is termed as ‘festival of lights’. There are other rituals too that are a part of 5 days of Diwali. Besides each day holds its special significance and has an interesting legend attached to it. Even after ages people follow the customs with great enthusiasm and joy.
