Diwali is the Hindu festival of light. The literary meaning of the word 'Diwali' is 'rows of lights'. The popular Diwali symbols are Diwali lights, Diwali diyas and the idols of gods and goddesses who are worshiped during the festival of Diwali.

The festival of Diwali is celebrated by Hindus all over the world and according to the Hindu calendar it is one of the most significant occasions of India. Diwali takes place in the month of October or November and it brings a sign of a new prosperous year. The most important Diwali symbols are lamps and earthen diyas which cover darkness by the glow of light.

Diwali, the festival, depicts the victory of good over evil, knowledge over ignorance and light over darkness. During the festival of Diwali, Lord Ganesha, goddess Kali and goddess Lakshmi are worshiped by the devotees. People worship goddess Lakshmi as she is the goddess of wealth. Goddess Kali is worshiped as the epitome of strength. The idols of these deities are worshiped as Diwali symbols and these are considered as the most prosperous symbols of Diwali.

Rangoli, the art of floor painting, is one of the famous symbols of Diwali. The central part of rangoli design symbolizes Hindu religion as well as Hindu deities. Motifs like lotus, fish, birds, snakes, etc. are created by the rangoli pattern. Most of the rangoli designs are circular. Heavenly symbols like the moon, the sun, and other zodiac signs are also common themes for rangoli. These are all symbols of prosperity and wealth. The lotus referring Goddess Lakshmi, the unfolding of life, the heart or the wheel are also famous patterns of rangoli.

It is said that the Diwali symbols bring faith and prosperity in your house. So, have a great Diwali. To gather more information on Diwali or any other festival, do visit the pages ofCelebrationsonnet.
