Diwali is the most gorgeous festival celebrated in the month of October or November and the history of Diwali is as old as the history of India. Diwali, the Hindu festival, celebrated all over the India as it is the most popular festival of all the festivals from South Asia. On this festival, everyone shares Diwali sweets, brightly lit Diwali lamps and diyas and enjoy the fun of fireworks. The history of Diwali come along with some tales of Purans, the mythological book of Hindus. In India,Diwali is celebrated continuing five days. Each day has rituals and myths of their own. These are the five days-

Dhanteras:

It is the first day of Diwali. It is also known as Dhantryaodashi. The history tells that, on the day of Diwali Lord Dhanvantari came out of the ocean that was churned by the Gods. He was the physician of the Gods and an avatar of Lord Vishnu.

Choti Diwali:

It is the second day of Diwali and the history related story says that, in ancient time king Bali was a threat to the Gods so Lord Vishnu visited him in the guise of a small boy and begged him to give land which he could cover with his three steps. Bali agreed with the condition and Vishnu covered entire heaven and earth with his two steps. Bali offered his head to put his third step. After that Vishnu pushed him down to the world. But Vishnu gave permission to return to the earth for once in a year. This time is celebrated with light and lamps.

Diwali:

It is the third day and it is believed that on that day Lord Krishna fought with demon Narkasura and killed him. So, this day is celebrated as the victory of good over evil.

Diwali and Ram Chandra:

Diwali is the day when Ram Chandra came back to his home, Ayodhya after defeating demon Ravana in a great battle.

Bhai Dooj:

It is the fifth day of Diwali and celebrated as the symbol of love between sisters and brothers. They share gifts and sweets with each other.
