Home » Indian Celebrations » Raksha Bandhan »  Rakhi Rituals

Rakhi Rituals are simple but are followed with great devotion. Raksha Bandhan is one of the most celebrated Festivals of India It is a festival of the Hindus. Since Hindus are known for rituals and ceremonies, Rakhi rituals are also of great importance to the Hindus. Celebrationsonnet.com enquires about the various rituals associated with Raksha Bandhan.

Raksha Bandhan day brings with it a festive mood in which every Hindu home soaks itself. Rakhis are bought or made at home a day before Shravan Purnima. Traditional delicacies are prepared in every home on the auspicious day. After taking a bath in the morning the sister readies the Rakhi thali with all the ingredients of puja like diya, roli, chawal, and Rakhi. She then worships the deities and the Puja or the offering takes place. Later she ties Rakhi to her brother's wrist and prays for his well being by offering Aarti. The sister then puts the traditional tilak on her brother's forehead with roli and chawal and offers him sweets. The brother then blesses the sister and pledges to protect her throughout his life whenever she will be in danger.

Presenting gifts to each other is an important part of the festival. The brother gifts the sister after she ties Rakhi to him. The gift is nothing but a token of Love and affection of a brother for his sister. Though now a days the sister demand a gift of their choice from her brother, but the greatest gift for any sister is the blessing of her brother.

The Rakhi rituals are followed in the same manner in almost every part of India with slight variations in some parts. For more information on Raksha Bandhan keep browsing through the pages of Celebrationsonnet.
