St. Patrick's Day is celebrated in Ireland in remembrance to the death of Saint Patrick, one of the patron saints of this country. It is a celebrated as a national holiday in Ireland. Every year in the land of Dublin, a parade is organized on the eve of this day. It is however only a part of the forthcoming five day festival. In this festival, many Irish people are found to wear a bunch of shamrocks on their laps. Girls and boys are found to wear green in their hair. Artists who dwell in this part of the world engage themselves in drawing shamrock designs in the checks of different people.
This day is also celebrated in the Churches of Ireland as a popular Christian festival. This particular festival is so popular among the Irish people that a huge collection from the public funds is organized for the parade from the Belfast City Council. The biggest celebration of these noble festivities St. Patrick's Day takes place in Dublin. The main places of celebration include the like of Down Patrick in Northern Ireland where St. Patrick was buried. More than 2000 participants gather here every year to celebrate this auspicious occasion with music, dance food and many other events.
However, the most striking aspect of this festival is that both the Christians as well as the non Christians celebrate this festival in their own way, which goes to show that this festival is certainly beyond secularism. While the traditional Christians celebrate this day be attending mass meetings, parades, wearing shamrocks and wearing the color green and imbibing alcohol, the non Christians enjoy it in their own way by relaxing and engaging themselves in get together.
