The Japanese festival of Dolls or Hina Masturi is celebrated every year tentatively on 3rd of March. In many parts of this country, this festival is also known as the Girls Day. During this time, girls of this country are known to put their collection of dolls on display. According to a traditional feeling, if a Japanese girl shows her collection of dolls for more than three days, she might get married later in her life.Just weeks before the onset of this festival, you will surely get to see huge collection of dolls from the Japanese girls all over Okinawa.

Even small furniture’s and other items are accessory items are also displayed often at times.The dolls that are put in display are betterly known as the Hina Ningyo does vary in terms of their sizes and prices. According to traditional beliefs,two dolls, one representing the emperor and the other representing the empress are set up on the upper levels of the display stands.These dolls are better known as the Dairi-Sama.

The normal set of Hina dolls are usually 15 in number. Out of these 15 dolls, normally three are ladies in waiting known as Kanjo, five musicians, two retainers and lastly three guards displayed in a descending order on the shelves. However, the latger set of dolls are also known to include other members of the royal household and essential room amenities like the elegant lamps, eye catching flower vases and trees.

Japanese grandparents are known to buy dolls for their grandchildren’s and continue adding dolls and other related items as more grandchildren’s are born in due course of time. During the tenure of this Doll Festival, the use of traditional dishes like rice cakes and rice wines are served. However, now day’s small sets containing Hina Masturi dolls are also very much popular. After the children’s part gets over, a typical Japanese family gathers for the traditional dinner in which prayers are offered to the deities for their health and prosperity.

Hina dolls can be both inexpensive as well as expensive. The most inexpensive set of such a Hina doll can come in the range of $150-$250. However, a full set of Hina doll may often vary between the range of $400-$10,000, the price is determined by the size and quality of the finished product. However, the most commonly used Hina dolls cost somewhat $600 to $700. These are indeed the best gift items that can be presented to a child.
