The International Mariachi Festival
is celebrated every year in Guadalajara,
Mexico during the last week of August
which continues till the first week
of September. The Mariachi Festival
is flagged off with an inaugural parade
that starts from the intersection
of Ninos Heroes and 16 de Septiembrede
and finally comes to an end at the
Palacio de Gobierno. A grand occasion
to catch the Mexican culture at its
best, the Mariachi Festival in Mexico
is a very colorful and vivid festival
of the Mexican people. A splendid
presentation of the Mariachi bands
and floats, folkloric ballet groups
and representatives from both local
and national Charro groups are what
lend this festival an air of rustic
charm and festive mood.
Attended by more than 2,000,000 spectators
every year, the International Mariachis
Festival in Mexico mainly consists
of these following attractions:
- Gran Fiesta Mexicana: This
festival is celebrated at the Plaza
de la Liberacion and attempts to
recreate the magic of a Mexican
Serenade. This event is free and
open to all the spectators.
- Tequila Express: Tequila
is Mexico's Agave capital and can
be reached by train from Guadalajara.
Mariachis, folkloric ballet dancers,
Charros and art exhibitions would
surely provide some food for thought.
- Shopping Center Performances:
Special Mariachi music shows are
organized at three of Guadalajara's
finest shopping centers namely,
Plaza Mexico, Plaza San Isidro and
Plaza Bugambilias. So, you can enjoy
some good music while shopping at
these shopping centres.
- Street Music: Mariachis
perform on the streets free of charge
during this festive occasion. So,
you can enjoy some good Mexican
music along with spectacular fireworks
and folkloric dance.
- Marichi Concert: At the
Benito Juarez theater, a special
Mariachi concert is held. At this
event, you can lay your hands on
some delectable Mexican delicacies,
regional foods and of course tequila
and candies. Moreover, a grand concert
is held at the same venue attended
by some of the finest Mariachi groups
with national and international
celebrities.
- Expo Pinturas and Expo Artesanias:
Get to know more about the Mexican
tradition and its people through
art and artesania of the land.
- Popular Concerts: With
an impressive backdrop of the Instituto
Cultural Cabanas situated at one
corner of the Plaza Tapatia, the
live performances of the Mariachis
heightens the spirit and sets the
mood for a perfect holiday.
