Switzerland is a country located
in Western Europe. The country has
international borders with Germany,
France, Italy, Austria and Liechtenstein.
The capital city is Geneva. Switzerland
has four official languages, such
as Swiss German, French, Italian and
Romansh.
The culture of Switzerland is a mixed
one. The domestic one does not only
influence the culture of the country,
rather there is influence of neighbor
culture and some deep European sentiment.
As already narrated above, due to
the influence of four languages in
the country, the cultural pattern
is diverse. Say, for example those
places in Switzerland where there
is concentration of German population,
the culture is of pro-German type,
where there is a French concentration
the culture of the French becomes
pro-French, where there is African
concentration there is African culture
existing. The places in Switzerland,
where Swiss German language is widely
spoken, there the culture are more
of a pro-German, traditionalist and
neutralist type. Also it is noticed
that the places of Switzerland, where
there is deep concentration of the
Italian-speaking people, the Italian
culture is prevalent.
Apart from the above stated linguist
culture, another isolated language
named Romansh existing in the Eastern
Mountains of Switzerland is still
has its dominance in the region. That
is why the culture of Switzerland
is so vibrant and transparent to maintain
a decent living for the citizens.
The Afro-Pfingstein Celebrations
is a celebration of African festival
and culture. It is held every year
from May 24 to June 6. The venue of
the city is Winterthur. The festival
is an intermingling of African Concerts,
exhibitions, workshops, trade, commerce,
films and other forms of trade. The
festival is a representation of the
beautiful, attractive and colorful
aspects of African Heritage. The festival
is being organized without disturbing
the problems of this continent. The
aim of the festival is to promote
cultural exchanges between Swiss and
African citizen. Apart from the cultural
aspect, exchanges of economy, trade
businesses and sports are included.
