In each region of Switzerland, the
prevalent language in the area influences
the culture of the place. There are
several celebrations that are popular
in Switzerland. These are Afro-Pfinsteing,
Bex Rock Celebrations, Blue Balls
Celebrations and Caribana Celebrations
and a few others.
Blue Balls celebrations are held
every year on July 20 and ends on
July 27. The venue of this festival
is Lucerne. It is a festival of international
superstars in the field of music and
rock and roll bands. In this year's
festival, one comes across musical
legends performing along with the
talented singers of the 21st century.
Reputed musicians of the seventies,
eighties and nineties participate
in these celebrations. Steely Dan,
new wave icon Elvis Costello and Steal
lead the troupes respectively. Those
who arrived recently on the scene
are Damien Rice, David Gray and Badly
Drawn Boy. Other performers to join
in this celebration are Tiziano Ferro,
Archive and Bebel Gilberto. The aim
to make this festival a truly pan
culture oriented festival has greatly
succeeded.
To talk about the history of these
celebrations, it had a humble beginning.
It was way back in the year 1992;
the celebrations began with an audience
of about 300 people. In later years,
the celebration gradually started
getting public momentum to become
of the more popular ones in Switzerland.
Every year during the celebrations,
around 1, 00,000 visitors throng the
venue of Blue Balls celebrations.
During the celebrations, most of
the performances take place at Kultur
and Kongresszentrum. Additional performances
take place in and around Lake Lucerne
Lake shores.
