Gurten celebrations are somewhat
different from the other well-known
Swiss festivals. In local Swiss language,
this celebration is referred to as
Bern's "Haus-berg", meaning Bern's
"Home Mountain". The celebrations
take place on a mound at the back
of the Berne city. During every summer,
the Gurtens organizes the Gurten celebrations.
The Gurten celebrations are an imaginative
musical festival. The festival becomes
all the more significant and popular
on account of the participation of
big actors and local ones. It is a
crowded festival. The weather has
an impact upon the successful completion
of the festival. In some year the
weather had been excellent. The visitors
to the festival had the privilege
of having glimpses of Manu Chao and
Mousse.
Gurten celebrations take place every
year on July 19 and ends on July 22.

It is a celebration of the country's
best music events. Chief features
of the year 2007 celebrations are
Scissor Sisters, Basement Jaxx and
Avril Layigne. The lists of performances
to be performed are Dizzee Rascal,
Joss Stone, The Roots, The Pipettes
and Nada Surf.
Gurten celebrations had its beginning
in the year 1977. In the beginning
it was a folk music celebration. In
the nineties the celebrations diversified
and the popularity began to rise up.
At present the celebrations had the
capacity to draw approximately 10,000
fans per year. There is also facility
of restaurants, which is open for
public service till, late at night.
