Turkey has a diverse culture and
heritage. The location of Turkey is
such that is connected both ways with
the Islamic and the Western World.
Turkey's culture is a blend of Oguz
Turkic and Anatolian, Ottoman (which
was a admixture of Greco-Roman and
Islamic cultures) Empire. The Western
Culture and traditions, which began
with the westernization of Ottoman
Empire, is still going on. This admixture
is a result of Muslim and the Western
World.
There are various festivals held
in Turkey on a regular basis. Anzac,
Camel Wrestling Hip 'Arabesque' 'Hip-Hop'
etc are the popular festivals of Turkey.
Turkey Sunnet is one such festival
which adds pride and prestige to the
rich cultural heritage of Turkey and
its culture.
Turkish Sunnet is one of the popular
festivals of Turkey. The festival
is held every year at Ortaca, a place
of importance in Turkey. The festival
types are Traditional Festivals, Cultural
Festivals and Community Festivals.
Now let's come to what Sunnet is
referred to as. Sunnet in Turkish
language means circumcision of a young
boy. It is the transition from childhood
to manhood, which is equivalent to
the marriage for women. Having spent
two weeks with Erols, Hussein still
had time to return to the state of
boyhood. Hussein saw his grandfather
sacrifice the goat in his yard. Hussein
grabbed some organs of the goat from
the ground level along with cousin
who hold's the goats head by the horns,
started running around the yard by
tempting his sister Fulya and his
cousins. Three musicians started playing
music in the garden which added some
life in the atmosphere prevailing
in that particular place.
During the morning of Sunnet, Hussein
came out of the house wearing a traditional
outfit, wearing leather shoes, royal
blue pants and shirt, a matching cape
with a large swan of silver sequins.
Hussein with his right hand hold on
to one of his staff, later on made
him look like the leader of a marching
band. His hat fell down over his eyes
as he stood on the porch with his
parents, while in and around the courtyard;
he received claps from his families
and friends.
